Spammer whack-a-mole

I just played a bit of spammer whack-a-mole, focusing on followers with words like "escort," "corporation," "LLC," and "keto" in their names, as well as those with names that are clearly business names or name devoted to some kind of product. I also blocked followers with URLs as their names. That cut my total follower list down by about 300, without even having to take a closer look. Judging my the names of some of the remaining followers, I could probably cut the list down by another half. I don't know that I have the energy.

Of course, with no Booklikes oversight, it doesn't really do any good to block folks, since the spam accounts keep breeding and blocking them doesn't actually remove them from Booklikes. I don't know what the spammers get out of it, other than free websites. Although who in their right mind would want to hire a lawyer whose site is a Booklikes blog? At least the editing service spammers fit in somewhat. The legal and medical stuff just makes me shake my head.
