Wow, I finished this one fast. So good, but this reread made me feel a little ill. Book 1 (maybe 1-2 years later?) mentions that Taiki and his king are either dead or lost, and I can see in this book how that could happen. I don't know that Taiki truly managed to overcome his timidity and self-doubt, and his king or others could easily fill him with doubt without even meaning to. :-(
Next up: The Vast Spread of the Seas.
