Champion of the Rose - Andrea K. Höst

I've been alternating between this and Ancillary Sword (yes, I'm still rereading it - if I'm good, I'll finally write a review this weekend). Both books have characters who can see everything going on in their surroundings, no matter how private (Soren is far more upset about this than Breq). That's about all the two books have in common, however. The relationships in Champion of the Rose are all filled with either pain or potential danger. The relationships in Ancillary Justice have their problems, but generally give me warm fuzzies. I need those warm fuzzies when Champion of the Rose starts to wear on me too much.
