The Martian - Andy Weir

So much science. Too much? I'm not sure yet.

I suspect that this is one I'll enjoy more as movie, although that makes me doubly glad I'm reading the book first. I don't already know how Mark is going to solve his problems or screw up while trying to solve his problems. One thing I do know: Mark likes his exclamation points.

The switch from Mark's first person present tense stuff (which I can put up with because it's journal entries, although it's normally not my thing) to third person was a little jarring. At first I thought Mark was describing one of Commander Lewis's TV shows. Me: "Wait, did The Dukes of Hazzard have a character named Venkat Kapoor?" (I know almost nothing about The Dukes of Hazzard, so it was actually slightly plausible for a fraction of a second.)
