Has anyone ever read this? Also: Hey Grim, this exists!

ME - Thomas T. Thomas

It stars an AI, and from little I've been able to find out about it (both the title and author make for difficult searches), it seems like the AI is a sympathetic character you're meant to root for. Which I like.

I spotted it on Baen's site and was intrigued. However, I've only ever read or attempted two of this author's works before. The first one, Crygender, I mostly enjoyed, but in terms of the gender issues it seemed practically tailor-made to explore, it fell completely flat. Plus, it was pretty dated. The product page says ME has been updated, but... And I completely lost interest in the second book I tried, Trojan Horse.

Then again, it's $2.99, so I may cave unless someone chimes in with anything I consider an enormous personal red flag.
