Oh thank goodness, one that's easy. My favorite "I" character is Iathor from Elizabeth McCoy's Lord Alchemist books and stories.
This is one of those cases where, although I haven't always liked the books/stories themselves, I adore one of the characters. In Herb-Witch, Iathor didn't seem all that great at first, but he grew on me.
I love him for his strong sense of duty and deep awareness of his responsibilities. In a world where nobles emotionally bind people to them with a potion, the dramsman's draught, Iathor never, ever lets himself forget that he could seriously harm those who serve him with just a few careless words.
