I'm a librarian who loves anime, manga, and reading a wide variety of genres.
I'm done, finally. Work got in the way - evaluations (which still aren't over), student worker hiring (I thought we had one picked out but the student changed their mind ::siiigh::), and a great many books that needed to be made available for checkout ASAP.
As far as Midnight Riot goes, I enjoyed my re-listen. I loved the humor, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith works great as Peter Grant, even though I still feel like he must have been recovering from a cold or something during the first half of the audiobook.
I've written a review for this before, and I feel that my 4-star rating is fine as it is.
The good: I like the way Peter approaches magic from a scientific perspective. Awkward Nightingale is the best, even if the secondhand embarrassment is painful for me. And I enjoyed the murder investigation element.
The bad or so-so: Peter's inability to be around most female characters without lusting after them at least a little was annoying. I suppose it wasn't all that bad in this book, but one of the reasons I stalled on this series is that I got tired of that aspect.
Now I just need to decide what to listen to next, but that'll happen sometime after I get through the next phase of evaluations.
